Construction Update

Updated: This project has been delayed while National Grid waits for approval from the Conservation Commission. The new start date is around January 24.

Beginning on Monday, January 6, National Grid will be replacing the gas mains and residential connection lines for a portion of Jefferson Ave, Wheatland Street, and a portion of Lawrence Street. Residents who will be affected by the gas line upgrades will be contacted directly by National Grid.

This project is scheduled to be completed in about 2.5 months, depending on the weather. In total, approximately 1,460 feet of new gas main will be installed. During construction, traffic will be detoured as necessary. Project updates will be posted on BuildingSalem.com.

Replacement of the gas service is due to on-going water intrusion issues , resulting in the loss of gas service for customers.
