Plans have been updated after the initial installation of flex-posts for the separated bike lanes on Willson Street. The posts will now be placed 60 feet apart to allow for cars to easily move over to make room for an emergency vehicle to pass.

Physical features of roads, including the width of travel lanes, has an impact on how fast you drive, in many cases without being aware of your speed. Bike lanes allow cyclists to travel safely, while reducing car lanes to more appropriate widths for legally-allowed speeds.
Now that the redesign of Boston Street has reached the 25% complete level, it will be submitted to Mass DOT which will schedule a Public Hearing on the project.
